Bleak Retail Economic Outlook!!!

In the Past 45 days…
Circuit City lays off 34,000
Microsoft lays off 5,000
Bose lays off 1,000
AMD lays off 1,000
Intel lays off 6,000
IBM/Lenovo lays off 2,500
Motorola lays off 4,000
Sony lays off 8,000
AT&T lays off 12,000
Sharper Image is also closing its doors shortly
so go on down for the sales.

So Who’s next?
Gap
Gap has seen a pretty large decrease in revenue this year &
has closed about 8-13% of its store.
Chapter 11 in 09′ Should go under in 2010.

Starbucks
Starbucks has slashed hundreds of stores and
thousands of employees but no one is buying $5 coffee
so their revenue is still plunging.
Starbucks will file chapter 11 in 09′.
But where will I get a strawberry-frappa-mocha-swirl-
a-chino-latte, with 4% soy milk and a dash of cinnamon?

Lane Bryant
O.M.F.G. !!
Big Girlz across the country will be on suicide watch!!!
Nikia run down & buy everything you can, ’cause no
other stores would have your size.
(It will be hard as hell for you to find a clothing store
that has sizes 24+ or XXLLXXLXXLLXX)

Sears/Kmart Let’s be real no one is going out and buying new
ultra expensive items for their homes right now so Sears isn’t
doing well. To add to the bad news Sears owns Kmart and with just
a few Kmart stores still left it doesn’t look good for the once mighty
Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Sprint/Nextel
Sprint most likely will survive 2009 but it will be a close call.
They have been able to sell off parts of its business to stay afloat but
they are stuck with their crappy phones & push2talk which is hurting
business as people flock to the newer phones from att/verizon/tmo.

Zales
Most likely will close another 15% of its stores after closing 5% in ‘08.
They will most likely file for bankruptcy in ‘09.

Notable mentions to look out for in ‘09 financial trouble:

OMG, if those giant John Mayer billboards start disappearing, I will truly end my own life.
